What to Do & See in Orlando – Water Park Hotel Tips & Advice

With summer nearly upon us, now would be a good time to start thinking about heading to a water park. You’ve picked out the type of park that you want to go to, and you’ve made reservations as far in advance as possible, but how are you going to find all of the water park hotels that are recommended by your friends and family? And what is the best way to save money when you book your reservations for the popular destination spots?

There are many things that you need to know when making hotel reservations. First, you need to know what the average room rate is, off season and on. You also need to consider what kinds of activities are offered at each of the water park hotels that you are checking into. The best way to do this is to look at the water park websites. These websites will give you a list of the activities and the prices of them at each of the hotels. While you could just fall right in and book your day passes, which include unlimited access to the attractions, you might also be looking for better deals on food and drinks, theme park tickets, and other things.

So how can you save some money? Go online and check out the various hotel websites. Not only will you be able to see the hotel’s daily rates, you’ll be able to compare them side-by-side with the other hotels. For example, some of the lower level hotels charge the same prices as five day passes to the parks, while the deluxe and premium hotels usually charge less than one fifth of the weekly rates of the five day passes. If you stay in a hotel that is on the higher end of the price scale, you should definitely be able to save some money on food and drinks, theme park tickets, and other things. Check out the hotel websites and compare the different rooms.

When looking for waterpark hotels, you may be wondering how you are going to pay for all those entrance fees. Some resorts charge an entrance fee but also charge a nightly cost for use of the hot tubs, spas, tennis courts, bowling alleys, snack bars, and so forth. If you are staying in an indoor resort, instead of an indoor pool, and the indoor facility is located outside, you can add an extra fee to include use of the indoor heated pool during the cooler months of the year, as well as the use of the hot tub during the warmer months.

What about the fitness center? Some ski resorts have onsite fitness centers. These can range from a simple sauna room to an Olympic size gym. Even if you don’t use the fitness center, it’s still nice to know that the hotel has good fitness and training equipment. And, as a waterpark lover, you want to use the water, not exercise alone!

For the younger kids, you might want to consider a hotel that includes children’s programs in addition to all the adult attractions. Some of the more kid-friendly hotels like the John Carter Inn provide several kid-friendly activities, including rock climbing walls, miniature golf, miniature train rides, and sports camps. The Waterpark World’s Children’s Fun Park is another great option, with playgrounds, slides, mini golf, water slides, an indoor pool, and even a mini circus! The Waterpark Inn, featuring the Blue Lagoon and Beach Club, is also very kid friendly.

Another great option that you will want to consider is an all inclusive resort with an on-site golf course. If you and your spouse or significant other are golfing buddies, this could make for a wonderful vacation experience. Just be sure you look at all of the amenities available at the various hotels, and don’t choose one based strictly on cost alone. This expert tip may not apply to all waterpark hotels, but if you are looking to save money, on-site golf courses can be a great way to do it.

Finally, be sure to check rates (and discounts) at the various hotels around the resort. Hotels and resorts often offer special deals and financing options to hotel guests who book their rooms during off-season times. If you are staying at a hotel that is on the premises of a theme park, be on the lookout for discounted room rates during popular times. Many hotel guests also receive free admission tickets to certain attractions, which can add up to substantial savings for those who stay at a popular attraction. These are just some of the many ways to save money when staying at a water park hotel. To learn more, check rates (and discounts) at the hotels featured in the “What to Do & See in Orlando” series.
